I remember as a child, whenever I heard the story of Christ's birth, feeling broken-hearted that Mary and Joseph could not find a place to stay. As I thought about them being turned away, I said to myself, “I would have let Him in!”
As an adult, I have reflected on this many times. I cannot change the fact that I was not there at His birth, but I do get to decide each day whether to let Him in or not. Christ has said, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him.” (Revelation 3:20) Yet how many times am I too busy to let Him in to my life? How often do I get distracted or and forget I am a child of God? Neal A Maxwell said, “Each of us is an innkeeper who decides if there is room for Jesus.” I hope this song will serve as a reminder to let Him in to our lives and to our hearts.
Will I listen to His voice?
Each day, I have the choice
I will let Him in
I will make room for Him to abide
I’ll ask Him to stay
I know He’s here right by my side
I’ll let Him in...
I choose to let Him in.
May your Christmas season and each day afterward be filled with the peace and love the Savior brings!
